Our History

We (Fiona and Bob) have owned and been owned by many pedigree Russian Blue cats for over 30 years. Our first Russians, Nico, Ninja & Missy were from Mary Todd, who bred under the prefix Mariava. We then had the pleasure of owning a few Shoelina Russian Blues, bred by Jennifer Fleming, Ollie, Mika, Poppy, Luna & Bella. Both our previous breeders had sadly passed away when we decided we needed to introduce two younger Russians into our home so we turned to Gwen & Paul Phillips, who breed under the Melkelter prefix, who gave us Tasha & Thor.

It was then that we then began to plan to breed, it was a thought we had been toying with for a good few years and was becoming more and more important to us. Fiona had set herself a goal, that once she had retired from her job in the NHS she would have time to give to breeding. When the prospect of early retirement arose, she knew exactly what she wanted to do!

We were delighted that in June 2023 our beautiful foundation breeding Queen was born Melkelter Lady of the Loch.

It had been a long wait on the right kitten arriving to our chosen parents but as with everything in life – Cara was worth waiting for!

In 2024, Cara produced her first litter of kittens. We kept Alvie (Ruiseanach Alvie) from that litter and in 2026, Alvie presented us with her first litter of kittens – we have kept Potato (Ruiseanach Cairn Gorm) from that litter to hopefully breed from in the future.

Ruiseanch Russian Blues are bred to GCCF standards and can trace their pedigrees back over many generations of highly titled Russian Blues from the UK, New Zealand, Australia & Russian, including close relatives of our first Shoelina Russians!

Kittens are sometimes available to carefully selected homes but as hobby breeders, we only plan on a maximum of 1 litter per year per female so you may have to be patient if you would like to become a slave to one of our kittens. Please feel free to contact us for availability. We do not take deposits (which are non refundable) for our kittens until you have visited and are sure that they are the kitten for you. We want you to be happy together and for them to have a forever home.

Our kittens will be indoor cats only – unless you have a fully cat proofed garden or catio.

Kittens will leave around 14 – 16 weeks of age, after they have been neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. You will receive their pedigree papers, vaccination record, 4 weeks free insurance, some of their favourite food and a scratcher from CERTIFIKATS that they are used to using, to take away with you.
