Exciting News: Kittens Have Arrived

A huge welcome to the latest additions to our Ruiseanach family.

We are delighted to announce the arrival of our newest litter of kittens! After much anticipation, a few weeks ago, Cara welcomed a litter of four adorable, healthy kittens into the world. Everyone is doing well, both mother and babies are already settling in comfortably.

Each kitten is unique, with its own little squeaks and charming personality already! Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing plenty of updates, photos, and videos, so you can watch them grow and discover their little quirks. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for regular updates and sneak peeks!

We are over the moon with our new arrivals and can’t wait to share their journey with you all. Thank you for being part of our community and for your continued support.

Happy First Birthday To Our “A” Litter

Happy First Birthday To Our “A” Litter

A year ago today, our house was filled with the tiniest mews, kneading paws, and the awe-inspiring sight of our very first Ruiseanch Russian Blue litter. As we mark their first birthday, it’s impossible not to reflect on the extraordinary journey these kittens — and we — have taken together.

From Newborn Whiskers to Elegant Cats

It feels like only yesterday that the kittens were nestled close to Cara, their mother, with their eyes tightly shut. Watching them open their eyes for the first time, wobble through their initial steps, and eventually bound about the house with endless curiosity has been nothing short of magical. Each kitten displayed their own unique quirks and personalities.

Milestones: A Year in Review

  • First Purrs: The gentle rumbling started within weeks, as they found comfort in our laps and arms.
  • Weaning and Exploration: With the guidance of their patient mother, they explored new tastes, discovered toys, and staked out favourite napping spots.
  • Playful Antics: We quickly learned to keep our shoelaces tied, as these kittens were relentless in their pursuit of anything that moved!

Choosing Their New Owners

As the kittens grew, the time came to seek out loving homes that would cherish them as much as we do. We were careful to select people who understood the needs and spirited nature of our precious babies, ensuring that each kitten would receive the affection and attention they deserved. Meeting the prospective owners and witnessing the instant bonds formed was deeply rewarding, reaffirming our belief that these special cats would bring joy wherever they went.

Achray, (Dexter or Dex) one of the most mischievous of the bunch, has truly settled into his new life in Edinburgh. We love receiving updates about his antics and it is pretty clear that he’s quickly become lord of the manor, perching regally on windowsills, surveying and harness walking in his garden and acquainting himself with all the local wildlife.

Arkaig, (Laddie) meanwhile, has taken up residence near Stoke and has made quite a name for himself as a show cat. He holds the distinction of being the first ever titled Ruiseanach, a testament to his owners and his charming temperament. His achievements continue to make us proud, and we eagerly follow his progress in the show circuit.

Meanwhile, Achanalt and Ailsh, (Bobbie & Belle) now share a cosy home together in Ayr. Their days are filled with playful chases and affectionate cuddles. It was heartening to see their close sibling bond continue to flourish as they settled into their new surroundings, bringing double the joy and laughter to their family and also giving a helpful hand when their owners are working from home!

As for Alvie, we decided to keep her as a potential future breeding queen. She is an absolute delight, charming everyone with her gentle nature and playful spirit. Alvie has become a cherished member of our family, our first Ruiseanach GCCF Champion and we all love her dearly.

Wishing all of our A litter the happiest of birthdays! It’s a joy to see how far each one has come and how much happiness they continue to bring into their new homes. Here’s to another year of purrs, play, and adventures—may they all be spoiled with extra cuddles and treats on their special day.

Champion Ruiseanach Alvie

Champion Ruiseanach Alvie

Another first for us as we celebrated success at the Cheshire Area Show Cat Show on Saturday 20th September 2025.

We are delighted to announce that Alvie has become our very first Ruiseanach GCCF Champion, marking a significant milestone for us. Her title was awarded at the Cheshire Area Show.

This achievement would not have been possible without the discerning eyes and expertise of the judges: Rosemary Fisher, Sue Danks, and Maria Chapman-Beer. We extend our heartfelt thanks to them for their awards.

Alvie took it all in her stride by sleeping through it all, after keeping us awake all night wanting to play, proving that even champions need their rest – as do her humans!

Congratulations to Alvie for this remarkable accomplishment and to everyone involved in her journey to becoming our first Ruiseanach Champion.

Another First For Ruiseanach Alvie

Another First For Ruiseanach Alvie

Alvie, embarked on a pivotal chapter of her show career at just over nine months old. Her entry into the competitive world of Adult classes at the Scotia Cat Fanciers Show. Yet, before the gleam of the show hall lights and the rustle of judging slips, we all had to conquer a journey as memorable as the show itself. No matter which road we take to this venue, it is an absolutely, horrendous journey!

Alvie, having already garnered a reputation as a charming kitten in previous shows, was now stepping into an environment where the standards would be higher, the competition fiercer, and the judges more exacting in their evaluations – but she did not disappoint. Alvie won her first (of three hopefully) and the Ruiseanach Prefix their first ever Challenge Certificate, thanks to judge Mrs Rosemary Fisher. It was an emotional and proud moment for us all.

As per usual, I was working on the results table all day and totally forgot to take any photos. Elisabeth Stark came to the rescue though with three photos of Alvie taken at the show.

Happy 2nd Birthday Cara

Happy 2nd Birthday Cara

Today, we celebrate the second birthday of our beloved foundation queen, Cara – Champion Melkelter Lady of the Loch.

Cara is more than a shining example of grace and beauty; she is the heart and pride of our Ruiseanach family. In just two years, she has brought immeasurable joy to our lives.

When Cara welcomed her first litter of kittens in September 2024, she proved to be a natural mother. Her nurturing instincts shone through as she cared for her kittens with tenderness and confidence, ensuring they thrived under her watchful eye – mother nature is amazing!

Let us also take a moment to wish Cara’s delightful litter mates, Leo, Rosa, and Luka, a very happy birthday also! May their lives be filled with love, mischief, and countless joyful memories for their owners.
