There comes a moment in every litter’s story when the tiny paws that once fitted neatly in one hand are suddenly racing across the room, climbing everything in sight and looking at the world with bright, confident eyes. For our C litter, that moment has arrived.

These kittens have filled the house with mischief, purrs and plenty of unforgettable little moments. From their first wobbly steps to their first proper play sessions, they have grown into curious, affectionate and characterful young cats, each one ready to begin life with their new family.
Over the past few weeks, the C litter have learned so much from their mum, their littermates and the world around them. They have practised all the important kitten skills: eating confidently, using the litter tray, grooming themselves, playing politely (?) and discovering that humans can be a source of kindness, comfort and fun.

Those early weeks matter. Kittens need time with their mother and siblings to build confidence, learn boundaries and develop the social skills that help them settle well as adult cats.
Each kitten is leaving with a little piece of their early life behind them and a whole future ahead. Their new families will get to know their individual quirks: the bold explorer, the quiet thinker, the lap-loving purr machine and the cheeky one who always seems to find trouble first.
First to go was Ruiseanach Cromarty (Azul) who went off to Ayrshire to join Ozzy (Bauchaille from our B litter)

Followed a week later by Ruiseanach Cruachan (Kita) who know lives in Hawick.

Ruiseanch Crianlarich (Emerald) and Ruiseanach Culloden (Shadow) both had a huge journey ahead of them, heading first off to Aberdeen then on the overnight ferry to their new home in Shetland.

Ruiseanach Calvine (Mog) is heading off to Glasgow next month and Ruiseanach Cairn Gorm (Potato) is staying with us!
As they settle in, they will need patience, routine and gentle reassurance. A quiet room, familiar smells, their usual food and plenty of calm handling will help them understand that their new home is safe. Before long, those little paws will be exploring every corner.
We are absolutely thrilled to share some wonderful news for Ruiseanach Russian Blues — we now have two Grand titled cats.

Our gorgeous foundation queen, Cara, gained her qualifying Grand Challenge Certificate — plus a spare — at the Durham County Cat Club and Northern Counties Cat Club shows, after winning the Grand Challenge in both shows and is now known as Grand Champion Melkelter Lady of the Loch.

Just one week later, Laddie achieved his qualifying Grand Premier Certificate — also with a spare — at the joint Cambria and Bristol & District Cat Shows and is now known as grand Premier Ruiseanach Arkaig.

We are so proud of both of them and incredibly grateful to the clubs, judges, stewards and everyone who helped make these achievements so special, especially Mandy – Laddie’s owner.
There are some milestones that feel especially big when you are raising kittens and their first proper trip to the vet is definitely one of them. Recently, our little bundles of fluff headed in for their vaccinations and health checks and, as you might imagine, they managed to turn the whole appointment into a mixture of curiosity, tiny squeaks, brave little faces and plenty of cuddles.

The visit began with the all-important health checks. Each kitten was gently examined from nose to tail. Jonathan, the vet, made sure everyone was growing well, moving comfortably and generally doing everything a happy kitten should be doing — including trying to investigate every corner of the room.
Polite introductions
Then came vaccinations, which are such an important part of helping kittens build protection as they grow. They were all so incredibly good, with only a few surprised looks and tiny protests before they were back to being their usual inquisitive selves.
Of course, the real highlight may have been Jonathan, who very much took it upon himself to sneak in cuddles at every possible opportunity. The kittens certainly did not seem to mind the extra attention.

By the end of the appointment, everyone had been checked, vaccinated and thoroughly admired. It was a big day for such little paws, but they handled it beautifully. A huge thanks to all at Tay Valley Veterinary Centre, Perth for looking after us so well.
Alvie’s kittens are growing up so quickly now and it really does feel as though it is happening in the blink of an eye. All six of them are thriving, gaining weight, fully weaned, litter-trained and now enjoying their new freedom out of the kitten pen. They have the run of the bedroom these days and they carry themselves with all the confidence of tiny adventurers setting off into a great new world.

What makes me smile most is hearing them before I see them. When I’m sitting downstairs, the sound of little paws charging about overhead fills the house and it’s almost impossible to believe it is only six small kittens! At times it sounds more like a herd of elephants than a family of fluffy babies. There is always a scramble, a rustle, a bounce, or the unmistakable thump of another game underway. Their energy seems endless and every day brings some new little mischief or discovery.
They spend their time tumbling over one another, chasing shadows, pouncing on imaginary treasures and investigating every corner as though it holds some wonderful secret. Each one is beginning to show more of their own sweet little character, which makes them all the more impossible not to fall in love with. They play with such determination and curiosity, completely absorbed in the important business of being kittens.
And then, just as suddenly as the chaos begins, peace falls. One by one — or sometimes all at once — they give in to sleep, curling up together in a soft, sleepy pile for a little power nap. After all the thunder and nonsense, those quiet moments feel especially precious. It is such a lovely thing to watch them growing stronger, braver and more independent with each passing day, even if a part of me wishes I could keep them tiny for just a little longer.
We are delighted to announce that Pr Ruiseanach Arkaig has been awarded his first Grand Premier Certificate at the prestigious GCCF Supreme Show in Liverpool—an exciting first for Ruiseanach Russian Blues and a proud moment for his owner Mandy. I was delighted that as his breeder, I was able to share in this moment also.
