The Safe Arrival Of Alvie’s Kittens

Celebrating the Second Generation of Ruiseanach Russian Blues

We are overjoyed to announce the safe arrival of Alvie’s kittens, marking the second generation of Ruiseanach Russian Blues. Alvie gave birth to six beautiful kittens, each one perfectly healthy.

The kittens are thriving, full of energy and curiosity as they begin to explore their new surroundings. Their fluffy coats gleam with the characteristic silvery sheen and their eyes are beginning to open to the big, wide world. It’s wonderful to see their close bonds with both each other and their devoted mum.

Alvie has truly proven herself a super mum. She’s attentive, gentle and fiercely protective of her little ones, ensuring each kitten receives all the love and care they need. Her nurturing nature is evident in every moment; she keeps her kittens clean, well-fed and comforted, making their early days safe and happy.

This new generation holds great promise. We look forward to watching them grow and develop, carrying forward the Ruiseanach Russian Blue lines. For now, we’re simply delighted to witness their first adventures and to celebrate the remarkable Alvie, whose dedication and grace make all the difference.

Celebrating Where It All Began

Celebrating Where It All Began

Back in 1992, two very special cats changed our lives forever — our first Russian Blues, Nico & Ninja (Gr Pr Mariava Nikolai & Gr Pr Mariava Nijinsky, bred by Mary Todd from Cupar in Fife). These beautiful boys ignited a passion that has stayed with us ever since.

What started as love for two stunning, affectionate companions has grown into a lifelong journey of dedication, learning and responsible breeding. Today, we’re incredibly proud to say that every Russian Blue we breed carries a pedigree we can trace right back to our very first Russians. A legacy built on care, commitment and an unshakeable admiration for this wonderful breed.

From Nico and Ninja to the present day — this is our story, our heart and our Ruiseanach Russian Blues. 💙🐾

January: A Busy Month

January: A Busy Month

Adventures, New Beginnings and Happy Endings

January proved to be a particularly eventful month for the kittens. They enjoyed a delightful holiday in the picturesque surroundings near Aviemore, where they enthusiastically joined in with family games during the evenings. The spacious, open-plan layout of their holiday home provided them with ample room to dash about and play to their hearts’ content throughout the day.

Following their holiday adventures, the kittens underwent neutering — a necessary milestone, although it confirmed that travel remains far from their favourite activity! Despite this, they recovered well and soon embarked on the next stage of their lives.

Settling into Their New Homes

Each kitten has now moved on to a loving new home:

  • Ruiseanach Buachaille has settled in Ayrshire.
  • Ruiseanach Bruicheach now resides in East Kilbride.
  • Ruiseanach Badenoch is enjoying life in Edinburgh.
  • Our little girl, Ruiseanach Bhreac has travelled to Halifax to live.

Looking at the most recent photographs shared by their new owners, it is clear that all the kittens are adjusting beautifully and appear very much at home in their new surroundings. Their journeys may not have been their favourite, but they are now relishing the love and comfort of their new families.

Each kitten left with a personalised toybox from our friends at Tactile Cat Toys & Furnishings and also a scratcher from Certifikats. I also received a lovely wee thank you card, which was a touching gesture from one of the new families.

December: A Month of Firsts, Festivities and New Families

December: A Month of Firsts, Festivities and New Families

December was a wonderfully busy and heart‑warming month for our Ruiseanach kittens. Each little one stepped into a new chapter of life — full of firsts, celebrations, and the joy of meeting their forever families.

Our four babies — Ruiseanach Buachaille, Ruiseanach Bruicheach, Ruiseanach Badenoch, and Ruiseanach Bhreac — received their beautiful Gaelic names and were welcomed into the arms of their new parents.  Watching these kittens form their first bonds has been a true delight.

They also enjoyed their very first Christmas, complete with cosy naps, rustling wrapping paper, and a little taste of festive turkey, which they all approved of with great enthusiasm. Between play sessions and cuddles, they returned for their second vaccinations and health checks, taking everything in their stride like the confident young cats they’re becoming.

As the year drew to a close, our Ruiseanach youngsters rounded off the season by celebrating Hogmanay and New Year’s Day — their first, but certainly not their last. From twinkling lights to the gentle hum of family gatherings, they soaked up every moment.

Here’s to a bright, joyful year ahead for our Ruiseanach kittens and their wonderful new families, who they will join later this month. We can’t wait to see what adventures 2026 brings.

Leaving The Kitten Room

Leaving The Kitten Room

Earlier this week, our littles ones had a big day out — their very first journey outside the comfort of their kitten room. Leaving their cosy room behind, the kittens were curious but calm, snuggled together as we set off. Every bump in the road was met with tiny mews, as if they were narrating their adventure to Tay Valley Veterinary Centre in Perth.

🩺 First Health Check & Vaccines
At the clinic, the staff couldn’t resist their charm. Each kitten had their first health check and vaccine and were given a clean bill of health. The vet was impressed by their playful energy and gentle nature — a testament to their happy start in life.

🤗 Cuddles Galore
It wasn’t just a check-up; it was a cuddle-fest. The staff were smitten, taking turns to hold and fuss over the kittens. Our little explorers soaked up the affection, purring contentedly as they made new friends.

🌟 Growing Up, One Step at a Time
This milestone marks the beginning of many adventures ahead. From their first cuddle outside their room to their first vet visit, each step is a reminder of how quickly they’re growing — and how much joy they bring to everyone they meet.
